Maui - Family Adventures

From the beaches and kiddie pools to the hands on activities such as lei making, Maui is family friendly and welcomes keiki (children) of all ages! Most hotels offer children's programs and camps and even Haleakala National Park has Junior Rangers activities for seven to 12-year-olds.

Experience Maui's only real submarine tour! Dive into a habitat of exotic sea creatures and witness rays, eels and turtles mingling amidst the natural coral reef. Gazing through your spacious viewport, you can exchange glances with hundreds of different fish.

Turn your seven to 12-year-olds into Junior Rangers! are young people who want to learn more about the natural world and our National Parks. Stop at the Kipahulu Visitor Center, Park Headquarters Visitor Center or the Haleakala Visitor Center on the rim, to pick up a free activity booklet when you visit. Kids can explore the park with the booklet and learn how plants and animals got to Hawaii long before people, how the Hawaiians lived, how volcanoes work and how to protect this special place for everyone. When you take the booklet back one of the visitor centers, a ranger will award children with a Junior Ranger Badge. (If they're younger than seven, there is still plenty to see and do in the park! Ask for activity pages at the visitor centers.)

Take a ride on a genuine 1890s train and experience the thrill of an historic steam train ride while panoramic Island vistas of West Maui unfold before you.

Maui Ocean Center
Walking through the acrylic tunnel, your kids will gape at the mantra rays and sharks swimming safely overhead. Over 60 exhibits and hand-on activities will delight children and adults alike. Maui Ocean Center was recently voted Hawaii's top rated family attraction by Zagat, and is just one of the many family-friendly treasures you'll find on Maui.

Haleakala National Park

Build a sand castle at one of the Islands many beautiful beaches. Stroll down to the rocky headlands and see what the kids find in the tide pools. Or take the family on an undersea snorkeling tour. With ocean temperatures in the high 70s, it might be tough getting your kids out of the water.
